Small batch, reclaimed glass, carefully curated.
Hand poured in Tallahassee, Florida.

We try to keep things simple. Wax & Wane candles are made from soy wax, plant-based essential oils, organic hemp wick and reclaimed glass containers.

Natural? A purist might argue that candles aren't found in nature, but at least all of our ingredients are. No paraffin, no phtalates, no chemical additives. Glass, wood and paper over plastic all day. Essential oils are pressed and extracted from plant matter; we never use synthetic fragrances.

Sustainable? Without getting all candle nerdy on you, please let us be upfront and tell you that there is no such thing as organic soy wax. This is unfortunate, but we're dealing with it because there are so many other ways candles can achieve a degree of sustainability. We only use organic hemp wick and all of our glass is reclaimed. In an effort to offset whatever's happening to the Earth right now, we try to do our part in our personal lives as well. We shop small and local and choose to eat ethically. On a sunny day, we can even sometimes be found volunteering with one of Tallahassee's many organic farms.

Reclaimed Glass? We scour locally owned thrift and antique shops to find our containers. We're always on the lookout for amazing glass and ceramic pieces, ranging from beautiful depression era vessels to antique canning jars to modern barware to hand built ceramics. And the best part of all of our hunting is that every dollar we spend benefits the livelihood of small business owners and non-profit community programs.

Who are we?

Jess Drawhorn and Carson Howse, two art school buds interested in good design, good smells and good karma. Jess is the mad candle scientist in the kitchen and Carson has a pretty keen eye for great glass and smart design.
